What Are the Benefits of Implant Dentures?

Traditional dentures can often be a source of frustration and discomfort. They can slip, pinch, and restrict your ability to enjoy your favorite foods. Denture implants, fixed or implant-supported dentures, offer a superior alternative. Here’s why you should consider them:

Denture implants are firmly anchored to your jawbone, ensuring they won’t move or shift while eating, speaking, or laughing. The implants act like tooth roots and bond like natural ones to the surrounding jawbone.

Our denture implants are designed to closely resemble natural teeth, providing a beautiful and natural-looking smile.

Say goodbye to sore spots and gum irritation. Denture implants custom fit to your jaw and won’t cause discomfort. They leave much more room in the mouth, allowing the tongue to move freely.

Enjoy all your favorite foods without limitations. Corn on the cob. Steaks. Old Fashions. Ok, you don’t need strong dentures for Old Fashions but they do go well with steak and corn. Denture implants restore your full chewing power.

Traditional dentures can lead to jawbone deterioration. Denture implants stimulate the bone, preventing its loss and maintaining facial structure.

Most regular dentures must be replaced every 5-7 years, but with the proper care, dental implants can last for decades or even for the rest of a patient’s life.bone deterioration. Denture implants stimulate the bone, preventing its loss and maintaining facial structure.

There is no need to remove and clean them. Maintaining these dentures is extremely simple; visit Dr. Glaser for regular cleanings as you would caring for natural teeth.

What Are Implant Dentures?

Implant dentures are oral appliances that replace several teeth at once. They anchor directly to your jawbone using dental implants, and as a result, they offer the most stability for chewing and speaking, functioning like natural teeth.

What Types of Implant Dentures Are Available?

When it comes to implant-supported dentures, there are removable and fixed options. The proper treatment for you depends on several factors, including your jawbone’s health, medical history, and personal preferences.

Removable Dentures

Removable Implant Dentures

  • Implant-Supported Bridges

  • Implant-Supported, Snap-In Dentures

  • Implants to Stabilize a Current Denture

Removable dental implant-supported dentures are a step up from a traditional denture. They blend the affordability of a “plate” with the convenience of two or more dental implants to keep them in place. Also referred to as an overdenture, this type of denture “snaps on” to dental implants in your jawbone. Clips securely hold the overdenture until you’re ready to remove it.

This option lets you take your dentures out daily for easy cleaning and has the convenience of a conventional denture with the reliability of a tighter fit.

Traditional dentures don’t use implants or frames and are only held in place by the suction created when the denture is placed.

For best results, you’ll need to replace your overdenture (the denture that goes on top of your implants) every 15 to 20 years.

Implant Dentures Are Not Just For Old People

Fixed Implant Dentures

  • Individual Implants

  • Implant-Supported, Full-Arch

  • Implant-Supported Series of Dental Bridges

A fixed denture — sometimes called a hybrid denture — attaches permanently to dental implants in your jawbone. You can’t remove it at home, but Dr. Glaser can remove it for maintenance when necessary. This ensures the denture feels more solid and provides additional support comparable to natural teeth.

With this option, you manage and maintain the dentures like natural teeth through brushing and flossing.

Fixed dentures require between four and six implants to provide the proper support. They must be placed on good-quality bone. As such, it can be a more complex treatment and may cost more than traditional options.

With proper care and maintenance, dental implants can last a lifetime.

What are the Most Comfortable Dentures?

Fixed-implant dentures are the most comfortable because they have the slightest movement, offering the most stability for chewing, speaking, and functioning like natural teeth. Because they remain firmly in place, care for fixed-implant dentures is as easy as maintaining a daily brushing and flossing routine. As part of your regular dental visit, Dr. Glaser will remove, deep clean, and reinstall your dentures.

of the treatment steps.

At Glaser Dental, we follow a proven process to transform your smile. Implant-supported dentures usually require multiple steps outlined below. But the exact treatment depends on your specific situation. Dr. Glaser will tell you what to expect when reviewing your custom treatment plan.

Consultation: Our experienced dental team will assess your needs and discuss your goals, addressing any questions or concerns you may have.

Custom Treatment Plan: We create a personalized treatment plan that fits your unique situation, ensuring the best possible outcome.

Pre-Prosthetic Care: Before Dr. Glaser can place implants, he must extract any decayed or damaged teeth. He may also perform bone grafting in areas where you’ve lost jawbone density. Depending on your situation, you may need to heal for a few months before implant placement.

Implant Placement: Dr. Glaser will place the dental implants with precision and care, ensuring minimal discomfort. Generally, the implants take about three to six months to integrate (fuse) with your jawbone. During that time, you’ll wear a healing denture.

Custom Prosthesis: We craft a custom denture that perfectly fits your implant posts, achieving a natural and comfortable result.

Final Fit and Follow-Up: Dr. Glaser will ensure your denture implant is secure and comfortable, providing follow-up care to ensure your satisfaction.

What is the Recovery Time?

Following dental implant placement, most people feel normal within one week. Your implants will continue to heal and integrate with your jaw over the next few months. In the meantime, you’ll wear a healing denture. A healing denture is functional but doesn’t attach to your dental implants. This allows your implants to heal properly.

It takes between three and six months to heal after dental implant placement. It can take longer sometimes, especially if you have bone grafting.

Is Dental Implant Surgery Painful?

Dental implants that do not require lifting the gum tissue are pretty painless, with our patients reporting pain levels of one to two after the procedure. If a small flap of gum tissue is lifted, the pain level is at three or four for the first night and subsides afterward.

What Can I Eat with Implant Dentures?

Unlike traditional denture wearers who usually need to select other softer foods or smaller bites, no food is off-limits with implant-supported dentures. Implant-supported dentures are anchored into the bone/jawbone, providing maximum biting force, completely replicating the full bite and chewing power of natural teeth. Plus, the streamlined shape allows your tongue to taste every bite.

Can I get Implant Dentures?

You can benefit from implant-supported partial dentures if you’re missing most or all of your teeth. Our team here at Glaser Dental will perform a consultation and exam to ensure dental implants can be safely placed into your mouth. To qualify for implant-supported dentures, you will be evaluated for three main things:

  • You Have Enough Bone in Your Jaw to Accommodate the Implants

  • Satisfactory Dental Health

  • Stable Overall Health
